The music we offer you is the culmination of two years of research and reflection on our oldest musical traditions and the way they survived until now, either through musical scores, audio or video recordings or through living traditions. This compilation therefore reflects our first conscious contact with the vast diversity and complexity of our musical tradition; from instrumental to vocal music, from festive to working songs, from Madeira to Trás-os-Montes; we tried to understand and share our musical identity.

Conscious of the responsibility of using and transforming this repertoire, we made efforts not to misrepresent its essence and rather, to present it to you conscientiously and carefully adapted to our instruments. We hope you enjoy the experience and that somehow it arouses your curiosity to look closer into our country and our beautiful and unique traditions.
